 Capitola
Mall is the largest and only enclosed shopping center in
the Santa Cruz area. In the late Eighties, they doubled the size
of the
center by adding a new wing with Macy's, Gottschalks, and a nice
food court. At that point,
Capitola Mall went from itty bitty second-rate to something
more urban and contemporary.
Stores
Most of what you'll find here are national retailers,
such as Abercrombie & Fitch, The Limited, The Gap, and Ann Taylor
Loft. The department stores are smaller scale, with limited offerings
compared to the Silicon Valley.
A convenience center across the parking lot from
Mervyns also offers a Ross Dress for Less.
Food
A sizeable food court, with a soft play area,
can be found between Macy's and Gottschalks. It features a number
of eateries for a quick
bite. For sit-down restaurants, try Chili's Grill and Bar or outside
the mall, Marie Callender's and Takara Japanese Restaurant.
Parking
Parking is fairly easy. Most of the entrances
face 41st Avenue. Otherwise, park near a department store and use
its
entrance. The back entrance at the food court is sometimes busy.
A multi-level garage is available near Gottschalks.
Location
Capitola Mall is located in Capitola, off Hwy
1 at 41st Avenue. After a short drive west, the shopping center is
on the right.
