Westlake Shopping Center in Daly City is currently renovating. Gone is the traditional mall and in its place an updated and attractive shopping center.

The old JC Penney building has been demolished and in its place a new Home Depot. In addition, a street is being plowed through the middle of the mall, replacing the old pedestrian walkway.

Stores

The stores that face John Daly Blvd seem to be doing well. There is a high occupancy and crowded parking lot. Many of the stores have turned their backs on the mall and now use the street side as their main entrances. It's really a shame.

Redevelopment

Kimco Realty Corp purchased the mall in October of 2002 and is redeveloping it. A recent e-mail from the Vice President of Development and Leasing stated Westlake Shopping Center is undergoing a large-scale redevelopment with many design improvements. Announcements of new shop tenants and restaurants will be made throughout the remainder of the year.
