BIGMallrat's Editorial Review
At first glance, Shoppers Square in
Reno is rather unlike other malls. It appears to be a giant box.
However, don't let the exterior appearance fool you. Inside awaits
some unique shops.
Atmosphere
Once inside, Shoppers Square is a bit unusual.
The mall corridor is rather narrow, maybe 10 to 15 feet wide. Banking
on the trend of enclosing malls, in 1977 the owner added a structure
in front of the stores to enclose the center. While unusual,
it does provide protection from the cold Reno winters.
Stores
You'll find a variety of budget-minded
and locally owned retailers. Plus, with a high occupancy, nearly
50 stores, there are quite a few shops to pique the interest of
visitors. Although there are no major department
stores, it doesn't distract from its draw.
In order to attract more
big-box retailers, the owners plan a 92,000 square
feet expansion.
Location
Shoppers Square is located at the
corner of East Plumb Lane and South Virginia Street. From Hwy 395,
exit west on East Plumb Lane.
