BIGMallrat's Editorial Review
Union
Square San Francisco is the Bay Area's premier
shopping destination. Not an actual shopping center,
per se, but a district of flagship stores, designer boutiques,
fashionable retail, and luxury hotels surrounding the Union Square
park.
Stores
Many department stores have flagships around Union
Square, including Macy's and the Macy's Men's Store. In addition,
the Bay Area's only Saks Fifth Avenue (at 384 Post St.) and Saks
Men's Store (at 220 Post St.). Don't miss the Rotunda in Neiman
Marcus along with its high-end fashions. Plus, some favorites, like
the Diesel flagship store (at 101 Post St.),
Kenneth Cole (at 166 Grant Ave.), and H & M (at 150 Powell St.
and 150 Post St.).
Food
There is no shortage of sit-down restaurants and
on-the-go eateries in the district. For outside dining with spectacular
views, try the
Cheesecake Factory atop Macy's. For a fantastic breakfast, try Sears
Fine Food at 439 Powell Street. For California-Italian cuisine, try
Kuleto's at 221 Powell Street.
Parking
Parking is best found at one of the local parking
garages. Under Union Square itself is the world's first underground
parking garage, but expect to pay a premium. Many hotels
also offer parking, but at wide-varying prices.
Location
Union Square is located in the heart of San Francisco
CA. It is best served by the Powell Street BART and MUNI stations.
While you are here
While visiting, don't miss Westfield
San Francisco Centre on Market and Fifth or the Crocker
Galleria between Sutter and Post at Kearny.
