BIGMallrat's Editorial Review
Westfield has done it again! They've taken the
previously lackluster Oakridge Mall and turned it into something
spectacular! First, they doubled the size, making a giant oval, if
you will. Next, they remodeled the interior to look
fresh and new. Finally, they added high-end retailers and excellent
restaurants.
Atmosphere
Westfield really knows how to pick architects.
This mall is full of beautiful details. Even the light fixtures
are both abundant and beautiful, yet never overbearing.
Stores
You'll find a mix of retailers here, including
some new high-end shops (banking on the area's affluence). Lots of
sit-down restaurants are a plus, too.
For movies, Century 20 Theatres is an
excellent draw, ensuring large crowds in the beautiful food court.
Three department stores call Oakridge home: Sears,
Macy's (newly expanded), and Target. (Target replaced the old Montgomery
Ward in October 2004.)
Food
The food court design is truly outstanding and reminds
me of a high-end restaurant in the City. The use of different textures,
including fabric, stone, and wood, are evident throughout. You'll
find an expansive collection of eateries and food from throughout
the world.
Parking
You actually can park on the roof! Then, you can
make obscene gestures through the skylights to unsuspecting shoppers.
I wonder how long it will take for someone to get arrested!
Valet parking is available outside of California
Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, and BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse.
Location
Westfield Oakridge mall is located in San Jose
CA, at the corner of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Blossom Hill Road.
From the West Valley Fwy (85), exit south Santa Teresa.
In summary
It's amazing to think that Westfield
Valley Fair (a premier shopping destination) is only 10 miles
away. In addition, the newly remodeled Eastridge
Mall will really have a run for its money.
